Dr. Paul White, founder and CEO of White Orthodontics, was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. As a second-generation dentist, Dr. White has been involved in the dental industry for most of his life. As a teen, he did lab work in his father’s dental practice, and worked his way through dental school providing dental hygiene services for local dentists. Upon graduation from the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. White served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, where he “defended the country against tooth decay,” as he puts it.
On returning to Richmond, Dr. White practiced general dentistry, where he developed a passion for understanding the mechanics of a healthy bite (occlusion). It was then that he decided to become an orthodontic specialist. Dr. White received his orthodontic training from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Once again, he returned to Richmond, where he established his orthodontic practice in 1992.
Since that time, Dr. White has been on a mission to dramatically improve the quality of orthodontic care in the Richmond area. To that end, Dr. White has continued to attend post-graduate training and seminars annually, and is most proud of his training at the prestigious Roth-Williams Center for Functional Occlusion in San Francisco. It was there that Dr. White received highly special education and training in the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ dysfunction and bite disorders (malocclusions).
Through the years, Dr. White has developed a reputation for orthodontic excellence, and is the go-to specialist for patients in the Richmond area who suffer from TMJ dysfunction and headaches. Dr. White lectures extensively in Virginia and throughout the country, and has authored a number one best-selling book entitled “Beyond Straight Teeth.”
Dr. White has had the privilege of working with and studying with some of the “true giants” in orthodontics. He has combined what he’s learned from them with the latest technologies to develop one of the most effective orthodontic systems in the country. Dr. White has successfully helped over 10,000 people get the beautiful smile they want and, more importantly, the healthy bite they deserve.
